This is a very, very late post, but I still wanted to document the day.
We had Maxwell baptized on December 23, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Arkadelphia. Of course, this day is special because it is the day that we committed to raise Max in the Christian faith and the day in which my congregation also committed to helping Max grow in the church, but it was also my cousin Jane's birthday. She would have been 92 years old and she was certainly an important figure in my life. All that to say, that it is a very special day in our family!
We were so happy to have Max baptized in our church--the church I was baptized in and my dad was baptized in--the church that Marc and I were married in and the church that Max's great-grandfather, Maxwell Whipple (and all his siblings), and his great-great grandparents, including Pearl Maxwell Whipple attended (hence how Max got his name).
The day was very special. I cried the whole time. I think I found it hard to believe that we were baptizing our son, particularly after not knowing for years if we (and by "we" I mean "I") could even carry a child. I think too, the emotion of knowing it was my home church in Arkansas and knowing how meaningful and special that congregation has been in my family for generations now, certainly added to the emotion! All of Marc's immediate family was there and all of mine was too, so we felt lucky to have their support as well.
We had Max baptized in the gown that my mom, uncle, sisters, cousins and nephews have all been baptized in. I love that my grandmother has really kept so many neat traditions alive and that we all have this neat connection.
Following the church service, we had dinner at my parents home. It was nice to have time to visit with everyone and I am so grateful to my mom and dad for hosting, especially with the stress of the holidays.
Here are some pictures:

The Jacobs also drove from Little Rock to help us celebrate.
